How to maintain the Cast Iron Cookware ?

(2022-06-09 06:51:32)
1. Pre-season the cast iron pan , cast iron skillet ,cast iron pot or cast iron cookware .

Bought iron pans need to be "opened" before use, and care should be taken during the use process. Just like human skin, it needs to be radiant every day. "Boiling the pot" is what we call "raising the pot", "pulling the pot" and "swinging the pot". Methods as below:

First, put the pot on the fire, pour in an appropriate amount of water, bring to a boil over high heat, and cook for about 10 minutes, then turn off the heat.

Second, when the water in the pot drops to lukewarm, wipe the inner wall of the pot evenly with a cotton cloth.

Third, scrub together with the lid.

Fourth, wipe the surface moisture with a cloth after cleaning the lid.

Fifth, pour out the water in the pot and prepare a scouring pad.

Sixth, dry the water in the pot.

2. Rust

Rust prevention

Ordinary iron pots are easy to rust. If the human body absorbs too much iron oxide, that is, rust, it will cause harm to the liver. So we should try our best not to let it rust during use.

First, don't leave food overnight. At the same time, try not to cook soup with an iron pot, so as to avoid the disappearance of the cooking oil layer that protects the surface of the iron pot from rusting. When brushing the pot, you should also use as little detergent as possible to prevent the protective layer from being brushed out. After brushing the pot, try to wipe the water in the pot as much as possible to prevent rust. When frying vegetables in an iron pan, stir fry quickly and add less water to reduce the loss of vitamins.

remove rust

If there is rust, there are remedies, let's learn together!

If the rust is not heavy, pour 20 grams of vinegar into a hot iron pot, brush with a hard brush while burning, pour out the dirty vinegar and wash it with water.

Or put a little salt in the pot, fry it yellow, wipe the pot, then clean the pot, add water and 1 tablespoon of oil to boil, pour it out, and wash the pot.

If it is a newly bought iron pot, after the rust is removed, it is necessary to "refine" the pot. The method is to heat the iron pot on the stove and wipe it with a piece of pork repeatedly. It can be seen that the lard is immersed in the pot, and it looks black and bright, and that's it.

3. Deodorization

The vinegar cooking pot is good for removing odor and preventing rust.

Pour 1 tablespoon of Shanxi aged vinegar into the pot first. Cook over low heat.

Then press the cotton cloth with chopsticks, dip it in the vinegar solution, wipe the inner wall of the pot evenly for 3 to 5 minutes, wait for the vinegar solution in the pot to turn black and pour it out.

Then re-add an appropriate amount of water to the pot and bring to a boil over high heat until the water is lukewarm.

Then wipe the inner wall of the pot evenly with a cotton cloth.

Finally, pour off the warm water and dry the surface with a kitchen towel.

Ginger helps remove odors

First, put a piece of ginger in the pot.

Then, press the ginger slices with chopsticks and wipe them back and forth in the pot for 3 to 5 minutes, wiping every part of the inner wall of the pot evenly.

In addition, the iron pot needs to be regularly maintained during the use of the iron pot, which can prolong its life! !

Finally, when using an iron pot, it should be noted that it is not advisable to use an iron pot to cook acidic fruits such as bayberry, hawthorn, and crabapple. Because these acidic fruits contain fruit acid, they will cause a chemical reaction when they encounter iron, resulting in low-iron compounds, which may cause poisoning after eating. Do not use an iron pot for cooking mung beans, because the tannins contained in the bean skin will react chemically with iron to form black iron tannins, which will turn the mung bean soup black, affecting the taste and digestion and absorption of the human body. .
